Mary Sugo Siciliano


Serves 4-6

  • 1/2 cup TRULY® 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil, plus more to finish
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, halved
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 T fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 cups Stanislaus Tomato Magic®
  • 1 lb pasta
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Grana Padano cheese, shaved

This recipe comes from our Field Director, Paul Busalacchi’s Grandmother Mary. Grandma Mary liked her sauce heavy on the aromatics, so lots of onion and garlic flavor this fresh sauce!


Heat the TRULY® 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until tender.

Add garlic, parsley, basil, and bay leaf; cook 1 - 2 minutes.

Stir in Tomato Magic®, season with salt and pepper, and reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

While sauce is simmering, cook the pasta until it is just short of al dente. Drain and add the pasta to the sauce to finish cooking, another 1-2 minutes.

To serve, finish with fresh basil, Grana Padano cheese and TRULY® 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
